The Rehmatan Lil Alameen Foundation in Jammu & Kashmir, renowned for its social work across the region, is making significant strides in public welfare. The foundation has empowered at least 500 underprivileged girls in Kashmir, training them to become financially independent.
Sheikh Firdous, Chairman of the Rehmatan Lil Alameen Foundation, stated that 500 girls from various districts in the Kashmir division have received training in sewing and various handicrafts. These skills enable them to earn their livelihood and achieve financial independence. He emphasized that handicrafts, a cultural legacy from Ameer-e-Kabeer Rehmatullah to the people of Kashmir, are slowly declining. Sheikh Firdous believes in revitalizing these crafts by training young women.
Sheikh Firdous Ali, aged 42, son of Sheikh Gulam Mohammed, resides in Rawalpora, Srinagar. He has distributed hundreds of food kits during the COVID-19 lockdown, along with relief efforts during floods, earthquakes, and other disasters globally. His mission is to promote unity among all religions, particularly among Muslims, and assist the needy, regardless of their faith.
During the COVID-19 lockdown, Sheikh Firdous, with minimal assistance from friends, distributed approximately 1400 food kits to impoverished families and continues to provide around 30 food kits to the most deserving families. He also aided over 50 stranded families financially, ensuring their safe return home. Last year, when the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway was closed for several days, he arranged food for hundreds of stranded passengers.
Sheikh Firdous has supported hundreds of accident victims and marginalized individuals, focusing on unity and humanity. In times of distress, he extends help based on his capabilities and encourages others with resources to assist the less fortunate. He also helped the fire victims and distributed Blankets , Daily use items and provided Bank Cheques to fire victims of different villages and cities of Kashmir Valley , Till date he have organised dozens of Free Medical camps across Valley.
He has contributed to the marriages of about 100 underprivileged girls, including Sikh, Pandit, and Muslim girls. In the 2014 floods, he rescued hundreds and provided them with essential supplies. His NGO has also organized numerous seminars on drug de-addiction, aiming to steer youth away from substance abuse.
Sheikh Firdous’s message to the people of Jammu and Kashmir is to support the needy, irrespective of their religion. His goal is not to boast about his contributions but to inspire others to aid those in need during challenging times
