Allowing Muharram Eight Procession is a Welcome Step./ Hussain Hamid

Karbala is not merely an event, but a phenomenon. The purpose of remembrance and mourning enendered by it is to remind man of his humanity , awaken his conscience , provide him courage to stand for truth and justice, flame up his spirit of sacrifice and service and to instill in him the qualities of faithfulness, loyalty and kindness.
In this context allowing MUHARRAM 8 PROCESSION in Srinagar from Guru Bazar to Dalgate by the Government after more than three decades is highly appreciable and laudable .This not only acknowledges the universality of the message of Karbala but is also a welcome step towards restoration of fundamental religious rights of people. We are hopeful that this creates a positive environment so that 10th MUHARRAM PROCESSION from Abiguzar to Jadibal is also allowed this year and onwards.
