Indian women’s 10m air rifle team bags Asian Games silver
Hangzhou: Indian shooters made their presence noticed at the Asian Games by winning silver for the women’s team in the 10m air rifle competition on Sunday.
With a combined score of 1,886.0, experienced competitors Mehuli Ghosh, Ramita Jindal, and Ashi Chouksey placed second behind hosts China, who broke the Asian record with an incredible 1896.6 points.
India could be in line for a women’s 10m air rifle individual medal as well, as Mehuli and Ramita also reached the eight-shooter final, which will be held later in the day.
Ramita, who is only 19 years old, came in second in the qualification round with a score of 631.9, and Mehuli placed fourth with a score of 630.8.
The three Chinese shooters Han Jiayu, Huang Yuting, and Wang Zhilin all advanced to the final; the other three shooters were Lee Eunseo of South Korea, Ganhuyag Nandinzaya of Mongolia, and Chen Chi of Chinese Taipei.
