A Brief Biography of Late Ayat. Mohsen Ali Najafi
Ayatollah Mohsen Ali Najafi (1943-2024) is a prominent religious scholar, commentator, author and translator who founded several religious schools. He is also the founder of Oswah educational system and several private schools and he has done many services for the Shia of Pakistan. Establishing Jamia Al-Kowsar seminary and Hadi TV channel are among his valuable services.
A brief biography of Ayatollah Mohsen Ali Najafi is as follows:
Ayatollah Mohsen Ali Najafi was born in 1943 in a village called Mantokha, 60 km from the city of Eskardu in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. His father Hossein was one of the scholars of the region and Mohsen Najafi started his early education with his father. He lost his father at the age of 14. After his father’s death, he continued to study with religious scholars of his region, Seyyed Ahmad Mousavi and Akhund Hossein.
Ayatollah Mohsen Najafi came to Sindh School of Islamic Sciences in 1963 and within a year, he also learned Urdu language.
Then he traveled from Sindh to Punjab and chose to be a student of Hujjat al-Islam Muhammad Hossein at Darul-Uloom Jafariya Khooshab and then he entered Jamia Al-Muntazar seminary in Lahore and there he studied under Hujjat al-Islam Hossein Bakhsh Jara, Hujjat al-Islam Safdar Hussain Najafi and some other professors.
In 1966, he migrated to Najaf Ashraf for higher studies, where he gained knowledge from the presence of scholars such as Ayatollah Khoi and Martyr Baqir Sadr. Due to the threats and strictures of the Iraqi Baath Regime, the Late Ayatollah returned to Pakistan and established the Ahl al-Bayt Community School in Islamabad.
The Late Ayatollah Mohsen Ali Najafi had thirty years of teaching experience in jurisprudence, principles and interpretation of the Holy Quran. Since 1974, after returning to Pakistan, he was continuously teaching the subjects of jurisprudence, basic principles, interpretation, philosophy, beliefs and ethics. He passed away on January 9, 2024 in Islamabad, Pakistan.

1. Ahl al-Bayt schools: academic centers established under the patronage of Ayatollah Mohsen Ali Najafi throughout Pakistan. It is said that there are 27 schools of Ahl al-Bayt. Among them, 18 schools are for men and 9 schools are dedicated to women, of which the Ahl al-Bayt community and Al-Kowsar community are the most famous.
2. Oswa Educational System of Pakistan: This institution is a subsidiary of Jaber Ibn Hayan Trust, which has been working in the field of education in different regions of Pakistan since 1994 under the support of Late Ayatollah Mohsen Najafi.
12 secondary colleges, 4 technical colleges, 2 paramedical colleges, 1 IGSC college and 58 primary to secondary schools operate under this system. Among them, we can mention Aswa College, Islamabad, Bint Al-Hoda Girls’ School of Quran Memorization, Eskardo, and Kowsar College, Islamabad.
Social and welfare services
Late Ayatollah Mohsen Najafi has done many social and welfare services in addition to scientific services. In welfare affairs, he built 11,000 houses for the victims of the 2005 earthquake and the 2010 flood victims. And he provided them to all flood victims and earthquake victims, both Shia and Sunni, without religious discrimination.
He never believed in religious discrimination. And he always respected humanity. That is why hateful content is never seen in his writings and words. During the past 40 years, besides scientific services, he has provided many basic and valuable services for the people of Pakistan in welfare and social fields.
