Central govt making continuous efforts to improve health services in country; Amit Shah
CITY REPORTER DESK, 30-Jan; Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday said that under the leadership of Narendra Modi, the central government is making continuous efforts to improve the health services in the country.
He informed that the government has established 22 new AIIMS in the country so that the poor do not have to wander for treatment.
Shah was addressing at the inauguration of Shiv Gyan Motilal-SGML Eye Hospital in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh through video conferencing.
He said that the Central Government has increased the number of medical colleges by 55 percent. Earlier, there were 387 medical colleges in the country whereas now there are 596 colleges. He told that the number of MBBS seats has also been increased from 51 thousand to 89 thousand. The number of PG seats has also increased from 31 thousand to 60.
Referring to the Ayushman Bharat scheme of the central government, the Union Home Minister said that through this scheme, 80 crore poor people are getting free treatment up to 5 lakh rupees.
