Target of pan India coverage of 5G services to achieved by end of next year, said Govt
CITY REPORTER NEWS DESK,28-Feb; The Government has said the target of pan India coverage of 5G services will be achieved by the end of next year. Briefing media in New Delhi, Communication and IT Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw said, 387 districts of the country have already been covered by the 5G services so far. He said, under phase one of the 5G coverage, a deadline was set to cover 200 cities by the end of March this year and the target has been achieved a month before.
He said, India has emerged as a leading manufacturer and exporter of telecom equipment and the mobile export is going to be ten billion dollars in the coming years.
He said, global companies are interested to invest in the telecom sector of the country. Vaishnav added that the government has taken a slew of policy reforms which have made India a leading manufacturer of telecom equipment, research and development and 5G rollout.
Talking about the proposed Telecom Bill, the IT and Communication Minister expressed hope that it will be passed in the coming Monsoon Session of Parliament. He said, it will bring the necessary impetus in the policy reforms, license mechanism and regulatory aspects of the telecom sector. On the occasion, Vaishnaw expressed happiness over the achievement that India has been awarded the Government Leadership Award at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. (CNS)
