Union Minister of Heavy Industries, Govt of India Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey visits District Pulwama.

PULWAMA, October 7: Union Minister of Heavy Industries, Government of India, Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey paid a visit to District Pulwama as part of a public outreach program, where he was warmly welcomed by Dr. Basharat Qayoom (IAS), Deputy Commissioner of Pulwama, ADDC Pulwama, SSP Pulwama, and senior officers of the District. The visit showcased the Central Government’s commitment to fostering collaboration and growth in the region.

The Union Minister’s visit commenced with an inaugaral ceremony of projects followed by a review meeting held at Circuit House Pulwama.
The projects that were inaugurated included water supply scheme at Chandgam and upgradation/strengthening of road from Nowdal bridge to Sheikh Mohalla Arabal at a cumulative project cost of Rs 748 lakhs benefitting a population of around 18950 individuals. Foundation stone of Govt UPS Hajibal was also laid with a project cost of Rs.110 Lakhs.

At the onset of the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Pulwama presented a pivotal, comprehensive, and insightful overview of the District, offering a holistic perspective on its development status. The meeting included a meticulous department-wise review and examination of centrally sponsored schemes, with an unwavering emphasis on elevating the overall quality of life for the residents of Pulwama.

The Union Minister, during an extensive review, expressed great satisfaction over the progress in all schemes and the saturation of different schemes in the District .The focus of the Centre is to ensure that the residents of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir get the best benefits and services, and District Pulwama is faring very well on all parameters,Union Minister added

In a spirit of inclusivity and as part of public outreach programme,the Union Minister took the opportunity to meet with various delegations representing Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), Block Development Councils (BDCs), District Development Councils (DDCs) led by DDC Chairperson, and a dynamic youth delegation. The interactions were marked by constructive dialogue and the exchange of ideas aimed at addressing the unique needs and aspirations of Pulwama’s diverse population.

After these productive discussions, the Union Minister proceeded to the Administrative Complex Pulwama, wherein Panch PRAN Pledge was administered followed by a heartwarming felicitation ceremony conducted to honor the families of the brave Veers under the “Meri Maati Mera Desh” program. This touching gesture paid tribute to the unwavering dedication and sacrifices of these courageous individuals and their families, reaffirming the government’s commitment to their well-being and recognition. An inspection of stalls set up by departments was conducted by the Union Minister, and beneficiaries were felicitated.

The families of martyrs were presented mementos by the Union Minister as a symbol of profound gratitude and respect. Beneficiaries of various departments, including labor, employment, horticulture, and animal husbandry, were facilitated. Students who had qualified for prestigious exams were also honored by the Union Minister.

While extending a warm welcome to the public at Administrative Complex Pulwama, the Union Minister for Heavy Industries expressed pleasure at the progress made by the District and the role of the public in extending full support to the Administration in this process, thus fulfilling the Centre’s vision for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. India’s Vision for 2047 will undoubtedly come to light, looking at District Pulwama’s progress, the Union Minister added. Union Minster also congratulated the public of Pulwama for their wholehearted participation in programs like MeriMaatiMeraDesh/ Swachhtahiseve, HarGharTiranga, Azadi ka Amrit mohatsav as also the Achievements under SBM of SBM plus model status.

In a move aimed at bolstering economic growth in the region, the Minister also visited industrial estate units at Lassipora, and had an insightful interaction with the unit holders of Pulwama.This nuanced approach highlights the government’s multifaceted commitment to promoting economic growth and diversification within the region, creating opportunities, and empowering local industries.
