“Netanyahu and Yazid: Echoes of a History of Oppression”
Written by :- Akhtar Abbas
The Israel-Palestine conflict holds a significant place in the annals of history. This dispute has ancient roots, and even after more than 70 years, it has claimed millions of lives. In this context, the unexpected attack by the Palestinian militant group Hamas on October 7, 2023, once again highlighted this issue on a global scale. The attack by Hamas left Israel and its allies in shock, a scenario almost inconceivable for a powerful and advanced country.
On October 7, 2023, Hamas launched a major attack on Israeli territories. The attack was so unexpected that even a powerful country like Israel was left stunned. Hamas demonstrated its strength and resistance, proving that aggression can always rise against oppression. Following this attack, it was inevitable that Israel and its allies would not remain silent but would retaliate against Hamas and other Palestinian factions. After the Hamas attack, Israel launched relentless strikes. In these Israeli operations, over 35,000 Palestinians were killed, including innocent children and women. Millions were injured, and hospitals, homes, and other properties were reduced to ashes. These attacks blatantly violated international laws. During the war, Israel acted in a manner reminiscent of Hitler, openly defying international regulations.
Another historical event that bears resemblance to the Israel-Palestine conflict is the Battle of Karbala. In the plains of Karbala, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Imam Hussain (AS), refused to pledge allegiance to Yazid and sacrificed his life. The struggle between truth and falsehood continues to this day. Israel has subjected the Palestinians to oppression, made them homeless, destroyed their properties, and made their lives miserable.
In this article, we will focus on some parallels between Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and Yazid. These similarities compel us to consider how history repeats itself.
Yazid, in his time, had a strong desire for power and tried to consolidate his rule by all means. Similarly, Netanyahu, to maintain his power, adopts harsh policies against Palestinians.
Yazid treated his opponents mercilessly and left no stone unturned to eliminate them. Netanyahu is also treating the Palestinian people ruthlessly, making their lives miserable and destroying their properties.
Yazid used religious purposes to strengthen his rule. Netanyahu also uses religion to achieve his political goals, increasing tension in the region.
Yazid heated the market for oppression and received international support. Netanyahu also has complete support from the USA and other countries, which justify his oppression.
Yazid used lies and propaganda against his opponents. Netanyahu is also running a propaganda campaign against Palestinians to justify his policies globally.
Yazid violated human rights and left no stone unturned to eliminate his opponents. Netanyahu is also involved in human rights violations and oppressing the Palestinian people.
Yazid incited religious hatred during his reign. Netanyahu is also fanning religious hatred, leading to more violence and bloodshed in the region.
Yazid’s rule saw the failure of peace efforts. Peace efforts are also failing under Netanyahu’s rule, and the conflict in the region is escalating.
Yazid established a reign of tyranny and oppression. Netanyahu is also establishing a reign of tyranny and oppression, making the lives of the Palestinian people miserable.
Yazid ended up being infamous in history. Netanyahu’s policies might also make him infamous in history, as the result of oppression is always infamy.
Yazid promoted hereditary politics. Netanyahu’s government is also a form of hereditary politics, trying to keep power in the hands of a family or group.
Yazid established influence on an international level. Netanyahu also has international influence and is implementing his policies with the help of allied countries.
This comparison makes us realize the need to learn from history. Those who stand against oppression and tyranny are always remembered, while the oppressors become infamous. Just as Israel and its allies are being disgraced worldwide, evidenced by protests in American and other international universities against Israel and its supporting countries, History teaches us that those who struggle for justice and truth ultimately succeed, and the rule of oppression and tyranny cannot last long.
Around the world, Palestinian resistance is seen as a beacon of hope. The Palestinian people have raised the flag of resistance against Israeli oppression. Yemeni and Lebanese resistance groups have also posed significant resistance to Israel. History bears witness that oppression can never last long. Just as the name of Imam Hussain (AS) remained alive after the events of Karbala and Yazid became infamous, there is hope for the liberation of Palestine.
According to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei’s statement, Muslims will soon pray in Al-Aqsa Mosque and witness a free Palestine. This is a divine promise and a firmly held belief. The Israel-Palestine conflict is a complex and sensitive issue that cannot be resolved immediately. However, the resistance and sacrifices of the Palestinian people will certainly bear fruit one day. Israel must review its policies of oppression and adhere to international laws. Recognizing the right of the Palestinian people to freedom and sovereignty is the only solution to this issue. History testifies that no matter how long the night of oppression, the dawn of justice will surely rise.
