A Humble Request to All Politicians;Preserve the Sanctity of Muharram : Hakim Suhail Abbas Kashmiri

SRINAGAR  :- Renowned social activist Hakim Suhail Abbas Kashmiri has issued a heartfelt appeal to all political leaders, urging them to refrain from using the Aasoora Procession or any camps installed for Muharram in any part of Jammu and Kashmir for political purposes.

Last year, it was observed that camps in the Zadibal area of Srinagar were exploited by some political parties to criticize each other, thereby violating the sanctity of this solemn occasion.

Such actions are deeply disrespectful and will not be tolerated if they occur again this year.

Hakim Suhail Abbas Kashmiri calls on everyone to respect the  sacredness of Muharram and to ensure that political disputes do not mar the observance of this important period.

This statement serves as a reminder to uphold the dignity and respect that Muharram deserves.

Media and press reporters are also requested to refrain from covering any story or asking questions not relevant to the day of Ashura.

For Shia Muslims, this period involves various rituals and traditions to honor the memory of Imam Husayn (as) and his companions, including religious gatherings where the story of Karbala is recited, and sermons are delivered, emphasizing the lessons of Imam Husayn’s martyrdom.

 Many engage in public displays of sorrow, including wearing black, reciting elegies, and performing passion plays reenacting the events of Karbala.
