New Delhi : Ban on Government employees participating in RSS activities lifted

Many government employees were avoiding attending the programs of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, keeping in mind the pension benefits etc. even after retirement. However, in the meantime, many state governments including Madhya Pradesh had repealed this order.

Amid the ongoing tension between the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Central Government has taken a big decision. The Department of Personnel and Training has issued an order lifting the ban on government employees from participating in all activities of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

According to the information, the orders of 1966, 1970 and 1980 issued by the previous central governments have been amended, in which strict punitive provisions were imposed on government employees for participating in RSS activities and other activities along with some other organizations.

Meanwhile the previous Congress governments had from time to time banned government employees from participating in RSS programs. Provisions were made to give strict punishment to employees for participating in RSS activities.

Due to this, many government employees were avoiding participating in the activities of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, keeping in mind the pension benefits etc. after retirement. However, in the meantime, many state governments including Madhya Pradesh had repealed this order.

But even after this, it remained valid at the level of the central government. A case was going on in Indore court in this matter, on which the court had also sought the opinion of the central government.
