Pulwama embraces Independence Day Spirit with Spectacular Celebrations across the District.
Chairperson DDC Syed Abdul Bari Indrabi hoists National Flag at DPL Pulwama
Pulwama, August 15, 2024 – The 78th Independence Day was celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm across Pulwama district. The central event took place at the District Police Lines, where DDC Chairperson Pulwama, Shri Syed Abdul Bari Indrabi, unfurled the National Flag and took the salute at the parade and march-past ceremony. The occasion witnessed the participation of Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom, SSP Pulwama P D Nitya, DDC Members, and other senior officers from the Police and Civil administration.
Flag hoisting ceremonies were also conducted at various locations across the district, including Sub-Divisional headquarters, Tehsil/Block Halqas, Panchayat Ghars, District Administration offices, schools, police stations, and other Police/CRPF establishments.
The march-past featured contingents from JKP, JKAP, CRPF 182/183, Home Guards, Fire & Emergency Services, NCC Cadets, and students from various schools, as well as participants from the Youth Services.
In his address, the DDC Chairperson congratulated the participants and emphasized the significance of Independence Day, paying tribute to the legendary freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for India’s freedom.
He extended heartfelt congratulations to the people of Pulwama for their remarkable participation in the recent Lok Sabha elections, where a record voter turnout of over 42% was achieved, a significant increase from previous years.
The Chairperson also praised the overwhelming participation in the recent Tiranga rallies across the district, which showcased the collective patriotic spirit of the community.Adding that Swachhta Pakhwara campaign saw the great participation of people and employees across the Blocks and Panchayats
He highlighted various development initiatives undertaken in Pulwama for the progress and prosperity of the general public notably construction of Kashmir’s first AIIMS at Awantipora and a Migrant Colony for Kashmiri Pandits , both expected to be completed by 2025.Additionally, the district is advancing with major projects such as the Rahmoo Bridge, set to open this November, and the construction of Trauma Blocks in Awantipora by the end of this year.
DDC Chairperson said that in the education sector, significant progress has been made with a focus on providing quality education in line with the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP2020).Healthcare has also seen significant advancements, with Pulwama district recognized for its exceptional performance in the Ayushman Bharat scheme, achieving a 100% verification rate for Golden Cards.
The Independence Day celebrations concluded with cultural performances by artists from department of information , education department and department of youth services and sports also enthralled the audience with patriotic songs and dance choreographies, followed by the distribution of prizes to the best contingents, cultural performers, social activists, and other participants.
