Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi recommends principle of law-refoulement in upcoming Bill on Refugee Laws

Srinagar : While attending brainstorming session on Bill on Refugee Laws, Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi strongly recommend that Parliament to uphold the customary principle of law-refoulement , as been recognised practice in several judicial cases in accordance with judicial interpretation of certain Fundamental Rights to all persons especially asylum seekers and refugees of Art 21 and Art 14 .

While reading the draft of the proposed Bill , Aga Muntazir that GOI should respect Non-refoulement as the basic right to be granted to asylum seekers and refugees,notwithstanding the ambit of the Foreigners Act and the absolute authority therein to deport.

It is pertinent to mention along Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi there were other 39 attendees of various background who presented their policy recommendations and the same will be forwarded to Government of India.
