Row over PM Modi attending Ganpati Puja celebrations at Chief Justice’s home
A controversy has emerged after Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended Ganpati Puja celebrations at the residence of Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud. The Shiv Sena (UBT) raised concerns, with MP Sanjay Raut suggesting that the meeting could cast doubts on judicial impartiality in the minds of the public. Raut also advised CJI Chandrachud to recuse himself from the case where the Uddhav Thackeray faction is challenging the Maharashtra Speaker’s recognition of the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena.
In response, the BJP defended PM Modi’s visit, stating it was limited to the cultural context of Ganpati celebrations and was unrelated to politics.
