Will quit if 75% public not satisfied with my work: LG Manoj Sinha

Srinagar : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has challenged Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s recent remarks by offering to resign if a secret ballot reveals that over 75% of the public believes no significant work has been done for their welfare in the past five years.

Sinha made this statement during an Aaj Tak event, urging Gandhi to conduct a public opinion survey to test the effectiveness of his administration.

Rahul Gandhi had previously criticized Sinha by likening his role to that of a historical king, accusing him of misappropriating resources and favoring external contractors.

In response, Sinha stated that he would support whichever party forms the next government and emphasized that the upcoming Assembly elections, scheduled in three phases starting September 18, will be conducted impartially.

Sinha also highlighted the record voter turnout in the recent Lok Sabha elections, attributing it to the public’s recognition of what he termed as Pakistan’s conspiracy and their commitment to India.

The region saw a 58.46% voter turnout, the highest in 35 years, he said.

Addressing concerns from opposition parties about his powers, Sinha reiterated that Article 370 is no longer part of the Constitution, and the Supreme Court has upheld the decision to revoke Jammu and Kashmir’s special status.

He assured that the Assembly elections will be fair, and campaigning continues robustly across the region.
