DC Kargil inaugurates Tribal Artisans Empanelment Mela in Kargil
Kargil, Sept 27 : Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Ltd (TRIFED), under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, in collaboration with District Administration today organized a Tribal Artisan Empanelment Mela (TAeM) at Handloom Department, Kargil.
The event was attended by Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse. The artisans from diverse backgrounds including handloom, handicrafts, SHGs from LRLM etc. participated in the mela and exhibited their products. Artists exhibited products such as weaving items, different handmade items, food items etc.
While speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner Kargil hoped the maximum artisans will be empanelled from Kargil. He said the event aims to ensure the best value for products. “We had taken up TRIFED for empaneling our artisans from Kargil on their platform. The initiative is expected to benefit local artisans by boosting their visibility and sales,” the Deputy Commissioner said.
The artisans were also briefed by organizers about the support their entrepreneurship can get from the TRIFED after the empanelment.
The event provided a platform for talented tribal artisans to be empanelled and recognized for their exceptional craftsmanship. It also provides them with direct exposure to external markets through various festivals and exhibitions across the country.
The event was attended by Chief Horticulture Officer, Kargil, Mohd Zaffar, Assistant Director, Handicrafts Kargil, Raziya Khatoon, District Superintendent, Handloom Kargil, Arifa Iqbal, team from TRIFED and others.
