Sankoo Campus, GDC Kargil organizes ‘Swachhata Hi Seva Abhiyan’
Kargil : In an inspiring initiative aimed at promoting cleanliness and environmental sustainability, Sankoo Campus, Government Degree College Kargil organized ‘Swachhata Hi Seva Abhiyan’ on September 25, 2024 at Thuls Pursa picnic spot and surrounding river bank near village Panikhar.
The cleanliness drive saw enthusiastic participation from more than hundred students and all the faculty members coming together to contribute to the Swachh Bharat Mission and supporting the initiative of Carbon Neutral Ladakh.
During the drive, students and faculty members actively participated in cleaning the picnic spot and adjoining Suru river bank with eco-friendly practices such as the reduction of single-use plastics were highlighted by collecting the waste in Jute bags and ensuring the proper disposal of waste at Karpokhar waste collection and scientific disposition centre.
Prof. (Dr.) Saleem Ahmed, Nodal Officer of GDC-K (Sankoo Campus), praised the efforts of all participants and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to promoting cleanliness and the vital role of educational institutions in shaping responsible citizens.
He also expressed gratitude to the Principal of GDC Kargil for providing logistical support for the drive. The event concluded with students and faculty members raising slogans such as ‘Say No to Plastic,’ ‘Garbage-Free India,’ ‘Save Ladakh,’ and ‘Save Nature.’
