Only Syrians can decide their fate sans foreign meddling : Iran FM
IRAN, Dec. 08 : – The Iranian foreign ministry issued a statement on Sunday after the Syrian government led by President Bashar Assad was toppled, stressing that only the Syrian people can decide on the fate of their country.
In a statement on Sunday, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called for the formation of an inclusive government in Syria with the participation of all components of the Syrian society.
“Achieving this goal requires an immediate end to military conflicts, preventing terrorist acts, and initiating national dialogue with the participation of all parts of Syrian society to form an inclusive government that represents all Syrian people,” the Iranian foreign ministry’s statement read.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran supports international mechanisms based on UN Resolution 2254 in pursuit of the political process in Syria as in the past, and continues to engage constructively with the United Nations in this regard.
