“A Long-Standing Demand Fulfilled; Shrine Is a Spiritual Asset for Community Welfare,” Says Social Activist Hakim Suhail Abbas Kashmiri

Srinagar : The leader of the All Jammu and Kashmir Shia Association (AJKSA), Molvi Imran Ansari, visited the respected Gupkar Astaan E Aliya, where he prayed and paid his respects to the notable Syed Mohammad Hussainy and Syed Mehdi Hussainy Sabazwari (Jalali) (R.A.). This visit was significant as it marked the AJKSA’s official acceptance of the shrine’s management responsibility starting December 15, 2024.
During his time at the shrine, Molvi Imran Ansari revealed that essential repair and renovation work would begin, improving this historic and spiritually significant site that is deeply ingrained in the heritage of Kashmir’s Shia community. This project aims to maintain the shrine’s sanctity while upgrading its facilities to better accommodate visitors.
Notable social activist Hakim Suhail Abbas Kashmiri praised this decision, commending the AJKSA for their efforts to enhance the shrine. “This has been a long-standing request made to the AJKSA, and their response demonstrates a commendable understanding of the community’s needs,” Kashmiri asserted.
Hakim Suhail Abbas also voiced his wish for the shrine to be improved to match the stature of other significant shrines in the region, emphasizing the importance of its splendor and functionality. “Gupkar Astaan E Aliya is extremely important as a space of worship and positive energy. It is vital that this sacred site serves the community’s welfare and development,” he stated.
He further highlighted the necessity of safeguarding the valley’s enriched spiritual and cultural heritage, referred to as Resh Vear—the land of saints and spiritual leaders. “The spiritual heritage of the valley deserves to be honored and preserved diligently,” Kashmiri remarked, pointing out the shrine’s potential to motivate and uplift future generations.
The community remains hopeful that the restoration work will return the shrine to its former glory while maintaining its spiritual character, allowing its legacy to continue to Illuminate for many more years ahead.
