Grand Ayatollah Makarem Considers Hajj a Golden Opportunity

IRAN// Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi said,” Clergymen have a heavy responsibility towards Hajj pilgrims and must supervise their actions and rituals.”

Shia source of emulation Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi had a meeting with Hujjat al-Islam Nawab, representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader in Hajj and Pilgrimage Affairs, and Seyyed Sadiq Hosseini, head of Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization on Friday, February 3 during which he pointed out that it is necessary for the clerics to spend time with the pilgrims during Hajj and said,” The clerics have a heavy responsibility towards the pilgrims since they should supervise their actions and rituals and even their recitation of Quran and correct them if they have any faults.”

Top cleric pointed out the necessity of proper clothing for pilgrims and added,” The clothing of Iranian pilgrims should be worthy of the dignity and status of an Iranian Muslim.”

The scholar further emphasized avoiding extravagance and taking advantage of the spiritual opportunity of Hajj and said,” Hajj provides a golden opportunity that is very difficult to see anywhere else, so one should look for something in those holy places that cannot be found elsewhere.”

Grand Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi concluded, “Among the pilgrims, there are some people who have weak financial or physical resources, and the authorities and other pilgrims should help and assist such people to the best of their ability.
