Landless, poor people won’t be affected: assures DC

Srinagar,15-Feb; Amid the concern and sense of insecurity prevailing among the poor people with regard to the ongoing anti-encroachment and demolition drive being carried out by the administration, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar said that no poor or landless people will be affected during the drive.

Talking to reporters, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Muhammad Aijaz Asad, assured that no landless person/ family would be affected by the government during the ongoing anti encroachment drives carried out to retrieve encroached state land.

“Clear instructions have already been issued to the concerned authorities by the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha not to target the poor and the landless public,” he assured.

Asked about the fake list of encroachers, he said two such episodes have been reported so far with an aim to create panic among masses. “The Cyber Police has also taken cognizance in this regard and those involved in the act will face the law,” he said.

Asked about the ongoing development works in Lal Chowk and other areas, DC said in view of the improvement in weather conditions work will continue during night shift.

“The ongoing works will be completed on set deadline. Work is going on and with the improvement in weather conditions it will be done in night shifts as well,” he said.

About the G-20 meeting, which is going to take place in Srinagar, DC said it is a proud moment for Jammu and Kashmir, especially for the people of Srinagar.(CNS)
