War against drugs in Kulgam; 2 more peddlers held by police, contraband substances recovered

Kulgam,16-Feb; Continuing its unwavering efforts to eradicate the menace of Drugs from the society and taking stringent actions against Drug Peddlers, Kulgam Police has arrested two more Drug Peddlers and recovered Contraband Substances from their possession.

In a statement issued, police spokesman said that acting swiftly upon the specific information regarding transportation of drugs in the jurisdiction of police station Qazigund, multiple teams under the supervision of SHO Qazigund Inspr. Riyaz Ahmad Khan were constituted and the vehicles and pedestrians were checked thoroughly.

“During checking at Dalwach crossing, Qazigund two suspected persons identified as Maqsood Ahmad Naikoo resident of Nussu Qazigund and Fayaz Ahmad Dar resident of Tachloo Qaimoh, were intercepted and going through checkings, officers present were able to recover 220 grams of Charas and 03 grams of Heroin like contraband substances from their possession. Both the drug peddlers were arrested”, it read.

The statement further read that regarding the incidents, Case with FIR No. 18/2023 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act and Case with FIR No. 20/2023 U/S 8/21 NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Qazigund and investigations have been set in motion.

Meanwhile, General People hailed the efforts of Kulgam police for back to back actions against the drug peddling and its propagators. “People are requested to come forward with any information regarding anti-social activity in their vicinity so that timely action against the culprits will be taken”,it read.(CNS)
