Maha Gram Sabha witnesses massive public participation at Parigam
PULWAMA, FEBRUARY 21: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Baseer Ul Haq Choudhary today visited Panchayat Halqa Parigam-A & B and presided over the Maha Gram Sabha.
SSP Pulwama, Ghulam Jeelani; ADDC Sheikh Abdul Aziz; PRIs, ACR, ACP, CPO, Tehsildar Pulwama, BDO Newa, Ex-En KPDCL, Ex-En PHE, CEO Pulwama, besides senior officers of District Administration attended the event. Besides, large number of senior citizens of the area also participated in the Maha Gram Sabha.
The DC spent whole day in the Gram Sabah at Parigam and redressed hundreds of grievances on the spot. He gave a patient hearing to the grievances raised and assured quality disposal of genuine issues in a time-bound manner.
The DC also gave on-the-spot directions for the redressal of many issues of urgent nature as per the competence of concerned departments. He said that District Administration is ensuring to provide all facilities to the people at their doorsteps and in this regard necessary instructions are already given to line departments.
While addressing Gram Sabah, the DC said that the Government is committed to provide equitable developmental benefits in all urban and rural areas of the district. He said that the three tier Panchayati Raj System has increased the expectations of the public and assured that all demands shall be fulfilled step by step.
The DC during the proceedings of Maha Gram Sabha impressed upon the participants to formulate and finalise the plan as per the set guidelines. He said the essence of democracy is that people shall rule themselves and decide for themselves what is good or bad for them.
He said that Panchayat Raj System consists of three tiers and each tier has its own level of powers which shall be utilized in full.
The DC exhorted upon the officers of line and works departments to make Special Component Plan in convergence mode to bring improvement on key indicators of development in these areas of the district.
He also directed departments to achieve 100 percent saturation of individual beneficiary schemes, besides, covering the scope of other welfare schemes of different departments.
He enlisted the developmental works completed during the year and stressed for acceleration of developmental tempo in the district so that targets fixed for the current financial year could be achieved within the stipulated time frame.
The DC said, with the engagement of the local youth, the Village of Parigam has been transformed into a prosperous village, where future of the next generation will be brighter. He added that the whole area has also contributed to the nation building owing to its natural landscape, karewas and the availability of the abundant resources.
The DC said various Centrally Sponsored schemes are being offered by various government departments including ICDS, DIC, Rural Development Department, Education and Handicrafts besides Agriculture and its allied sectors and requested the people to take benefits out of these schemes to make their lives easy.
Hundreds of people hailing from across the Block attended the Gram Sabah and put forth their issues relating to the problems they are facing.
The DC assured for the early redressel of all the issues of the people particularly of the issues of water supply scheme, settlement of land records, upgradation of the high school, PHC in the area, macadamisation of the internal roads, public park in the area, besides many others. The DC added that 2.5 crores have been earmarked for the development of the internal roads and the work shall be taken on these projects soon.
Later, the DC laid the foundation stone of the sports stadium in the area and said that this will be of a unique kind of stadium with all modern facilities in the whole UT of J&K.
The DC, while speaking about the development of the sports stadium, complimented the efforts of the SSP Pulwama in reaching out to the public and curbing the issue of drug menace in the area.
Further, the DC provided sports kits to the local cricket teams for the appreciation.
On the occasion, the DC also participated in a plantation drive on the foothills of the Karewas.
