Hon’ble Lt Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) meets EC Yakzee-led delegation from Changthang & Durbuk, EC Mohsin & delegation from BJP

Leh, February 25, 2023: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), met a delegation from Durbuk and Changthang comprising Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Shri Tashi Namgyal Yakzee; Councillor, Nyoma, Shri Eshey Spalzang; Councillor, Korzok, Shri Karma Namdak and nominated Councillor, Ven Konchok Tsephel, at Raj Niwas.

The delegation led by Shri Tashi Namgyal Yakzee congratulated Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) on assuming the charge of the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh. They requested to grant district status to Changthang; the need for inclusion of Nyoma sub-division for uninterrupted electricity coverage through Northern Power Grid Transmission lines being laid; the need for a separate Tourism Development Authority for Chandigarh to develop tourism-related infrastructure and facilities; issuance of Actual Line of Control (ALC) certificate so that the youth can avail benefits during recruitment drives; the need for opening Govt Degree College at Nyoma and Durbuk sub-division; the need for rationalisation of the wildlife area in Changthang to avoid hindrance in developmental works and the need for upgradation of Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Nyoma to Sub-District Hospital. They also requested to continue the Changthang Development Package for the benefit of the people of Changthang.

Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Shri Mohsin Ali, met the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at Raj Niwas. Lieutenant Governor, Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) informed Shri Mohsin that around 350 citizens of Ladakh would be airlifted from Chandigarh to Thoise by IAF’s flight on February 26. Similarly, Ladakhis stranded at Jammu would also be airlifted and brought to Leh by IAF’s flight on February 26. Citizens of Ladakh stranded in Delhi would be asked to go to Delhi, where they would be airlifted and brought to Leh on February 27. He stated that the UT Administration would make full efforts to put a check on the exorbitant airfare charged by the flights operating in Leh.

Lieutenant Governor, Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) inquired about the functioning of the governance at the grassroots level in Ladakh. Shri Mohsin informed about Rs 1 crore fund allocated to Block Development Councils (BDCs) and Councillors for carrying out developmental activities in their constituencies. He requested to define the roles of the elected representatives and the government officials to avoid interference and duplicity of developmental works.

Shri Mohsin requested for the fulfilment of the long-pending demand of the people of Kargil for a full-fledged airstrip for the operation of civil flights. He also requested for intervention in improving the telecommunication connectivity in remote villages of Kargil district. He assured to provide full support and work in close coordination with the UT Administration for the development of Ladakh.

Lieutenant Governor, Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), met BJP State President, Shri Punchok Stanzin; Vice-President, Shri Dorjay Angchok; Vice-President, Shri Gyal P Wangyal; General Secretary, Dr Skalzang Dorjay and Municipal In-charge, Shri PT Kunzang at Raj Niwas. Lieutenant Governor, Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), emphasised the importance of working for the benefit of the people of Ladakh and asked them to focus on social work activities to help the people of Ladakh.
