Resistance capable of taking any action by itself: Amirabdollahian

Beirut, IRNA – The resistance front is capable of taking any action by itself and possesses the necessary capabilities, Iran’s foreign minister said Saturday.

During a press conference at Iran’s embassy in Beirut, Hossein Amirabdollahian said the Islamic Republic actively supports the resistance of the Palestinian and Lebanese people against any war crimes in the political, media, and governmental arenas.

“Today, the resistance in the region has the ability to meet its needs by itself,” he said, adding that the prospects of opening new fronts against the Zionist regime depend on the developments on the battlefield.

“Today, the leaders of the resistance groups enjoy cohesion. They have designed the scenarios and their hands are on the trigger,” the chief Iranian diplomat, who is on a regional tour, further said.

According to Amirabdollahian, the Axis of Resistance will respond at the appropriate time if the international community and the United Nations do not react to Israeli crimes promptly.

“In conversations with the resistance leaders, I found out that the response of the resistance will be decisive and regret-inducing, and will change the current map of the occupied territories,” he remarked.

With the new conditions on the ground, he went on, what has been talked about in the media in the form of normalization of relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel is “completely off the table,” said the foreign minister.

Asked about interactions between Iran and Saudi Arabia on the Palestinian issue, Amirabdollahian pointed out that President Ebrahim Raisi and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman talked to each other for the first time on the phone.

The talks were held amid improving relations between Tehran and Riyadh, he explained, adding that both neighboring countries agree on the need to prevent the atrocities committed by the Israeli regime against the people of Gaza.

The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas on October 7 launched Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, a surprise attack, in the occupied territories, saying the operation was a response to the regime’s violations at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East al-Quds.

The Zionist regime subsequently carried out deadly strikes on the densely populated Gaza Strip. The ongoing air raids have so far killed at least 2,215 people, including 724 children, and injured 8,714 others.

The Iranian foreign minister addressed supporters of Israeli war crimes against the people in the Gaza Strip, saying that the opportunity for diplomatic measures is still available, but warned that it may be too late if action is not taken immediately to halt the atrocities.

On the issue of forced displacement of Gaza residents, highlighting that the Israeli apartheid regime targeted children, women, and noncombatants, he explained.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Amirabdollahian said he met with Secretary-General of Hezbollah Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and the two sides discussed the latest developments on the ground in Palestine and southern Lebanon.

He acknowledged Nasrallah’s reputation as a man of action and battlefield, whose considerations include the security of Lebanon and the region, as well as the sustainable safeguarding of all countries in West Asia.

Naturally, I came to the conclusion that given the Hezbollah movement’s retaliatory scenarios, any action would bring about a quake, which would shiver the Zionists, the top Iranian diplomat warned.

Thus, on the basis of my understanding of the realities regarding the resistance movement, I warn the supporters of war crimes against the residents of the Gaza Strip to halt the conflict as soon as possible, because a few hours later may be too late.

Regarding Syria’s stance, he stated that Damascus will act responsibly in relation to events in Gaza. He expressed confidence that their allies will make appropriate decisions in response to crises.

He also commented on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the government of the Zionist regime, stating that they fell on Saturday morning. He said that Netanyahu resorted to hue and cry and massacre of civilians as tactics to cover up disgrace
