The programme was organized by Prof.Masood Salim Mir (PI of the project), Dr.Kaiser Mohi ud din Malik Sr.Scientist & Head KVK,Kupwara and Dr.Irfan Bisati (Co-PI).On this occasion Ms. Ayushi Sudan District Development Commissoner Kupwara was chief guest of the event. The event was attended by the officers from Agriculture & allied departments , Mr.Zubair Wasil General manager NABARD, Experts from FoA & FoH,SKUAST-K besides scientific & non scientific staff of KVK.More than 100 farm men & women of district Kupwara participated in the programme.
Dr.Kaiser Mohi ud din Malik Sr.scientist & Head KVK while welcoming the guests and giving brief about the programme and role of formulation of FPOs in boosting the farm income of stakeholders.
He expressed gratitude to Prof.Masood Salim Mir PI of the concerned project for giving the opportunity to conduct such an event. He also expressed his gratitude to district administration Kupwara for always standing by the farming community of Kupwara.
On this occasion maiden Newsletter and know your KVK pamphlet was released by District development Commissioner Kupwara.
District Development Commissioner hailed the efforts of KVK Kupwara for orgainising such programmes in the district regularly. She also appreciated Head KVK for approaching district administration for the development of KVK and betterment of farmers of the district.
She stressed on the formulation of FPOs and emphasized to increase scale of production of agri and allied sector commodities asssuring every possible help to farmers from the district administration. Mr. Zubair Wasil District Development Manager NABARD ,GoI, in his lecture briefed about the prospects of formulation of FPOs and the role of NABARD for their sustainability.
Dr.Imtiyaz A Zargar Assoc. Prof. Division of Food Science & Technology FoH, Shalimar devlivered lecture on Micro Enterpreneurship Development in processing of fruits and vegetables.
Dr. Ishtiyaq Ahad Associate Professor Entomology, FoA, wadura delivered lecture on “ Apiculture: A reliable source to boost income of farmers”.
An expert farmer interaction was also held where various issues faced by the farmers were discussed.Farmers demanded further training programmes on various aspects of agriculture and allied sectors.Programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr.S.A.Hakeem Assoc Prof.Soil Science.
