IRAN- A top official of Yemen’s Ansarullah Movement has warned that any ground invasion of his country by American and British forces would expand the domain of Yemeni attacks in the strategic water off the country’s west coast.
Mohammed Al-Bakhiti a member of Ansarullah’s political office told the Al-Mayadeen network that the Yemeni armed forces would stop attacks on Israel-bound ships given that the United States, Britain and the Zionist regime stop deadly aggression in Gaza.
“Military operations against the Zionist regime will not stop until the aggression against Gaza is stopped”, he reiterated.
This Ansarullah official also reported an attack on a British warship that was closer to an American ship.
Our desire is to fight directly with the Americans”, he underlined, referring to the US aggression against Yemen over the country’s support for Palestinians.
Yemeni operations continue
US Central Command confirmed the Yemeni army’s missile attack on another ship in the Red Sea on Sunday morning.
In a statement quoted by Al Jazeera, CENTCOM said the Yemeni army targeted a Marshall Islands-flagged ship with an anti-ship ballistic missile in the Gulf of Aden.
“The attack caused a big fire on the vessel, which was extinguished with the help of American, Indian and French navies”, the statement said, adding that the ship continued its voyage by returning to its previous route.
The attacks came hours after the Yemeni army confirmed that it had hit a British oil tanker that initially claimed to be heading for Greece but its actual destination was later ascertained to be an Israeli port.
The Yemeni army has targeted over two dozen Israeli ships or those bound for ports in occupied Palestine in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait in support of the Palestinian resistance against the ongoing Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip.
The Yemeni army says it remains committed until the Israeli regime stops its attacks and ends its blockade on Gaza.
False US claim
Meanwhile, a US representative for Yemen affairs claimed on Saturday night that the Yemeni army and Ansarullah’s actions in the Red Sea complicate the effort to transfer aid to the Gaza Strip.
Tim Lenderking to Al Jazeera that the Ansarullah must know that peace cannot be achieved while threatening the world economy.
The claim of the US representative for Yemen affairs has raised questions about Washington’s own policies in the region, especially by giving its all-out support for the Israeli regime.
The US is also accused of threatening regional peace by fomenting various war and helping the Zionist regime in its genocidal war on the people of Gaza.
Also, in recent weeks, the United States and Britain have launched aggression against Yemen in violation of international law and the UN charter.
