Budgam Town Erupts in Protests, Mourns Iranian President’s Demise
Budgam, 24 May: in a unique display of solidarity today as thousands of people in Budgam town of Central Kashmir poured onto the streets after Friday prayers today to pay their respects to the late Iranian President, Ebrahim Raisi.
Raisi, along with his Foreign Minister and several others, tragically perished in a helicopter crash earlier this week.
The massive crowd chanted slogans and held signs in tribute to the late president Raisi highlighting his contributions to Iran’s achievements during the president’s term.
The unexpected demise of the leader has sent shockwaves across the region, with many expressing their condolences and offering solidarity with the Iranian .
Local religious leaders offered condolences and spoke of the strong ties between the people of Kashmir and Iran.
The gathering, while peaceful, highlighted the complex geopolitical landscape of the region.
